New committee member responsible for Youth and Competitions

ClimbMT/MCC is pleased to announce that Louise Giglio was recently co-opted as a member of the club committee. Louise; whose son Luca is a member of our youth programme KidsZone; has been actively supportive of the club and KidsZone in particular and we are delighted that she has come forward to offer her own time to help the sport grow and develop further in the Maltese Islands.

I asked Louise to introduce herself to club members, in her own words:

I moved to Malta in 2017 then joined MCC in 2019 along with my son Luca who is a Kids Zone member. I have been climbing and assisting with kids zone in the summer for the last 3 years, learning the ropes and becoming more in tune with the rock!

I volunteer with the St. John Rescue Corps Malta and have trained in both the High Angle Rope Rescue, and Water Rescue Divisions.

I have a background as a Paramedic, along with running a family business and shooting club in the UK.

Living in Malta has made me realise that I am very athletic and sporty, having taken part in various sports – triathlon, open water swimming, scuba diving, kickboxing, obstacle course racing, abseiling and rock climbing! I love being outdoors, I enjoy camping and exploring both the land and sea. I am not too keen on the cold as I am South African by heart.

By joining the ClimbMT/ MCC team I hope to embark on a new adventure, which will see me co-ordinating and organising events, helping develop the youth climbing community and to assist with the smooth running of ClimbMT while seeing growth progression and exciting times for everyone.”

Thank you Louise, we look forward to working with you. In the meantime should any other climbers be interested in helping too, just contact a member of the committee and we can discuss what area would be best suited to your skills and capabilities.
