New F8a route at Dahlet Qorrot redpointed today by Stevie Haston

Just got back from a weekend in Gozo when MCC members climbed at Kercem slabs, Ghajn Abdul and today, tried out some of the new routes at Dahlet Qorrot put up by Stevie Haston over the past few weeks.  Highlight of the day was certainly Stevie’s redpoint of his new F8a route “Apricot Tart” which takes a very steep line up an orange prow of rock.  The line was also tried by Nicky Sammut and James Herrera who found it pumpy and technical to say the least!  Read Stevie’s blogpost following this ascent here.

All routes put up at Dahlet Qorrot, about 30 in all ranging from F4 up to F8a, were bolted by Stevie using bolts provided by the MCC from its own funds, and his own blood, sweat and tears!  Thanks Stevie!  Incidentally, should any local climber be interested in helping Stevie on his new projects, please send me a message either on Facebook or on email: maltaclimbingclub@hotmail.com and I’ll put you in touch.

Should anyone wish to make a contribution to the club to help us continue bolting quality new routes you can send a donation using Paypal. Here’s the link.
