Alan Micallef is a nice guy and a local entrepreneur who’s obviously very much into health and fitness. He’s invested a lot of time and certainly money in setting up a new gym in Paola. Its large and airy and looks well -equipped (I’m not an expert!) and is situated in a former warehouse.
Its a gym with a difference though, an important one for local climbers! Despite the fact that he is not a climber and doesn’t know too much about climbing himself, Alan took a leap of faith and invested in what is now Malta’s highest climbing wall. The grand opening of the gym and launch of the climbing wall is taking place tomorrow, 23rd June starting at 09:30hrs. All climbers are welcome to visit and try the wall out for free. Alan is keen to promote the use of the wall and is offering discounted rates to members of both local climbing clubs. It must be mentioned that the routesetting has been carried out by MRCC members Kurt Caligari and Roland Sultana. Good job guys! There are 8 routes which can be climbed on toprope – grades are from easy up to F6c. Check it out if you have the time – we will keep you posted on rates and opening hours etc. Watch this space!

I would like to see the wall climbing! i’m in malta until september and search people come out to climb, since i don’t know the rock…..if someone wants to can send a e-mail..thanks and regards for all
