Xavier Hancock has reported on Facebook that the Gozo Climbing Association has bought another 300 holds for the Gozo bouldering wall, sponsored by the Gozo Sports Complex. He expressed thanks to the Sports Complex management for its continued support. The Gozo wall is currently the best indoor climbing facility in the Maltese Islands – pity its in Gozo though given that most local climbers are Maltese! Despite this, its clearly a good thing that this wall is being upgraded and I would urge all climbers to try it out next time they are in Gozo. It is good for the standing of the sport in Malta that the wall is seen to be used regularly as it will help convince authorities that the sport does have a substantial following in Malta and will facilitate further support from government for any other climbing-related initiatives.
To make use of this facility one has t0 join the Gozo Sports Complex as a member which will allow access to the wall all year round:
Yearly membership fee’s are only € 10 for an adult, € 15 for a family.
This membership also gives you access to the rest of the facilities in the complex including a squash court, gym, table tennis, tennis court and much more.
